More Ways to Give

Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Securities and mutual funds that have increased in value and been held for more than one year are assets that can be used in making a gift to the park. When you donate appreciated securities or mutual funds, you can reduce or even eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the transfer. Contact your advisor for specific information.

Matching Gifts
Many employers match charitable gifts made by their employees. Check with your employer to determine if they subscribe to this program.

Wills and Living Trusts
You can make a gift that will support the park while having the flexibility to change your will or living trust if life circumstances change. In as little as one sentence, you can complete your gift. This type of gift helps insure that we continue our mission for years to come. Use the following language to provide a bequest through your will or trust: “I leave ($ amount or # of shares) to Palma Sola Botanical Park, a not for profit corporation (tax number EIN# 65-054806). located in Bradenton, Florida, to support the Park’s greatest needs (or a particular Park initiative).”

Beneficiary Designations
Another way of making a deferred gift is by designating the park as a beneficiary in an IRA, retirement plan, life insurance policy, or donor advised fund. It’s simple to name the park as a beneficiary. Start by requesting a change-of-beneficiary form from your policy administrator or download the form from your provider’s website. Make your desired changes and return the form to establish your gift.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
Make a difference and save on taxes! If you are 70 1/2 years old, you can make a gift from your IRA directly to a qualified charity like the park without having to pay income tax. If you are required to take minimum distributions, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your obligation. Check with your financial institution, advisor or attorney to insure you follow the correct procedures.
